Klein Dental is committed to making our website accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We want every patient — current and prospective — to be able to learn about our services, contact our offices, and book appointments without barriers.
Our Accessibility Standard
We work toward conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These are the guidelines published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice when enforcing the Americans with Disabilities Act as it applies to websites.
What We’ve Done
As of April 2026, we have made the following accessibility improvements to our website, working with our web agency:
- Added a “Skip to main content” link so keyboard and screen-reader users can bypass the navigation and jump directly to page content
- Added semantic landmark regions (
<main>,<nav>,<footer>) so assistive technology can navigate the page structure - Fixed the search box so it is reachable and usable by screen readers
- Added descriptive labels to icon-only buttons (menu, close, dropdown controls)
- Restored visible focus outlines on all interactive elements so keyboard users can see where they are on the page
- Adjusted text colors to meet WCAG contrast requirements (4.5:1 minimum for body text)
- Installed the WP Accessibility plugin, a free tool by Joe Dolson (a member of the W3C ARIA working group), to reinforce good accessibility practices across the site
- Upgraded our contact form software (Gravity Forms) to a version that announces form errors and confirmations to screen-reader users
- Established a regular re-check process so that future website updates do not introduce new accessibility problems
Ongoing Commitment
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, not a one-time project. We test our site using automated tools (axe DevTools and WAVE) and by running through key flows — home page, services, contact form — using only a keyboard and with a screen reader. When we add new content or features, we work to maintain the same level of accessibility.
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some content on our website may not yet be fully accessible. If you encounter an accessibility barrier, please contact us using the information below and we will work to resolve it promptly.
Third-party tools embedded on our site (such as appointment scheduling widgets, map embeds, or video players) may have their own accessibility limitations that are outside our direct control. We work with vendors to advocate for accessibility improvements where those limitations exist.
